With the devastating recent flooding, there are no road connections to Bentiu, and the camp itself is in grave danger of being completely overrun by water. UNMISS Army Engineers from Pakistan work around the clock to construct barriers to prevent the settlement and the only airfield/connection to the outside world from being flooded. Chad hosts more than one million forcibly displaced people, including 580,000 refugees from conflicts in neighbouring Sudan, the Central African Republic and Cameroon. More than 125,000 refugees and asylum seekers from the Central African Republic have fled to Chad escaping different waves of violence since 2005.
The Kutupalong and Nayapara camps in Cox's Bazar, on the southeastern tip of Bangladesh, are plagued by violence and dwindling funding.
